Avoca Council approves Bennett Street project, imposes amusement tax

PA AVOCA — Avoca Borough Council enacts amusement tax, approves $225K Bennett Street project. Council President Holly Homschek and the nine-member council unanimously approved a $225,838.50 Bennett Street Wall and Drainage Improvements project for Pioneer Construction Co. Inc. and enacted Resolution 2 establishing a $75 amusement tax as a new borough revenue source.
The council also hired Mitchell Rennick as a part-time police officer pending background investigation and certification, with Homschek abstaining. Additional votes approved a $95 monthly portable toilet rental at Flatts Field and Community Center thermostat replacement.
